The Mayor of Santander, Gema Igual, visited the facilities of AXPE Consulting Cantabria, accompanied by the Councilor for Employment, Entrepreneurship, and Business Development, Chabela Gómez-Barreda.
The municipal representatives were received by the heads of the Cantabria Unit: Charo Ruiz and Alfonso de Juan Luna, operations managers, and Manuel Alba, operations director. During the meeting, the three executives presented the company’s operations in Santander and AXPE’s main future challenges.
Igual toured the offices and gained firsthand insight into the work of AXPE’s professionals, as well as some of the technological projects developed from Cantabria for public administrations and national companies.
The mayor expressed her gratitude for the invitation and highlighted that AXPE employs more than 250 professionals in Santander—a figure that, in her view, reflects the company’s commitment to skilled employment, innovation, and the development of tech talent in the region. She also extended her appreciation to the staff, whose specialization contributes to the operation of systems and services used daily by citizens, businesses, and public institutions.
“For Santander, having companies like AXPE is excellent news. Their ability to develop national and international projects, work with major public and private clients, and grow in such a demanding sector helps diversify our economy and strengthen an industry with enormous future potential,” Igual noted.
Among AXPE’s areas of specialization, the mayor highlighted the application of artificial intelligence to software engineering and the digital transformation of organizations.
The company is incorporating generative AI and intelligent agents into application development, maintenance, and modernization processes. Through this, it seeks to improve productivity, accelerate systems’ technological evolution, and address the transformation of complex IT platforms.
Furthermore, leveraging the capabilities of the AXPE Group, the company develops data engineering, advanced analytics, and artificial intelligence solutions. These include proprietary models and intelligent assistants tailored to the needs of both public and private organizations.
The heads of the Cantabria Unit expressed to the municipal representatives their commitment to continuing to consolidate AXPE’s activity in Santander, boosting skilled employment, and fostering the professional development of local talent.
To this end, the company considers it essential to collaborate with the University of Cantabria and Vocational Training (Formación Profesional) centers, facilitating entry into the labor market, specialized training, and career development in the tech sector. The goal is for professionals trained in Cantabria to build their careers in the region and participate in national-scale projects without having to relocate to other territories.
AXPE has maintained its connection to Cantabria since 2014, the year it launched its network of proprietary development centers. Since then, the company has reaffirmed its commitment to continuing its work from the city and strengthening collaboration with the educational, institutional, and business environment, contributing to making Santander an attractive hub for innovation and new technologies.
